The Team
Corinne Keyes - Founder
Corinne is a lifelong, avid reader, with a passion for learning and information literacy, and has worked as a Librarian for the past 10 years in higher education. Corinne believes that communities and its members are made stronger through literacy, and that magical things can happen when people of all ages read, expanding their understanding and perspective of the world around them. Her hope is that the Blue Couch Bookshop becomes a classy, cozy refuge within the community, where booklovers of every kind can come together for discussion and discovery, and to feel a sense of belonging. A place that sparks, and continues to fuel, a lifelong curiosity for learning.
Corinne is, admittedly, all over the place with her reading interests. Lately she is gravitating towards a good mystery or literary fiction novel that explores complicated characters and families.
Emilie Cornelius - Assistant Manager
Emilie has worked in book-adjacent jobs, including both public and academic libraries, for a majority of her career. She is dedicated to preserving authentic and trustworthy information and building a community around literacy and diverse perspectives. When she isn’t working, she is likely either volunteering in some archival capacity or finishing up coursework for graduate school as she works towards a History Master’s. She has a personal love for comic and graphic novel history and will often be found reading graphic memoirs or fantasy novels. Emilie is always open to expanding her reading horizons and will take any and all book suggestions!
Kayla Grise - Digital Media / Marketing
Kayla is a Columbus native ready to help you fall in love with your next book. With a background in marketing, she’s the one behind the posts on Blue Couch’s social pages. When she’s not reading speculative fiction or books with delightfully unhinged female narrators, you can find her sipping a lavender iced coffee, dominating trivia night, or pursuing her other passion as a cheesemonger.
Maddison C.
Maddison first discovered her passion for literature at the library, where she found a treasure trove of prose lining the shelves. Literary fiction soon became her favorite genre, though she is constantly pulling graphic novels to stare at the beautiful illustrations and color palettes. She enjoys cooking, visiting Ohio metro parks, sewing, watercolor, and watching bad horror movies.
Paul H.
Paul is an avid reader who especially loves diving into classics and memoirs. He is an editor of academic design for elementary literature and has great children's book recommendations. When he is not reading, you'll likely find him out on a run, exploring new hiking trails all over, and enjoying time with friends, family and his two dogs.
Tahera S.
Tahera is a Columbus native with a lifelong love of literature and art. They are passionate about the power of story and the importance of literacy. Fantasy books hold a special place in their heart but they’re willing to read anything that captures their interest. They began their bookselling career at Cover to Cover Children’s Books, where they worked for several years. Tahera will begin pursuing a degree in comparative literature and world politics this fall.
Madeline G.
Madeline is always on the hunt for authors and stories that offer a window into different cultures, worldviews, and experiences. She is currently in graduate school studying School Psychology and especially loves sharing the joy of reading with middle and high schoolers; if your young reader needs a recommendation, she’s got ya! When Madeline is not in class or working, she can often be found trying out new crafts, attending concerts and shows throughout Ohio, or spending time with her family and friends.
Kaitlyn A.
Kaitlyn is from Colorado and she is passionate about great stories and even better customer experiences. lShe loves helping people find books they’ll fall in love with, whether it’s romance, manga, horror, fantasy, or just something totally unexpected. When she’s not working or reading (which is rare), Kaitlyn’s probably doing an outdoor activity, watching anime, watching a new movie at the theater or hanging out with her two very hairy spoiled dogs.
